Study Abroad Administrative Assistant and Advisor
Global Learning Hub
Hello! My name is Abigael Carde, and I am a fourth-year Linguistics and Human Development double major.
During the summer after my second year at UCD, I attended the UCEAP program at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. Every day in the ten weeks I spent in South Korea was a new adventure, whether it be attempting to communicate with my Korean language professor who didn’t know much English, figuring out the bus and subway routes, visiting the pharmacy, or talking to vendors at small shops. There were many ups and downs during my trip and studies, but I don’t regret a single thing I experienced.
Being able to explore Seoul with other UCEAP students who came from similar backgrounds as me taught me so many things, but the most important thing I learned was patience. With patience, I was able to pay attention to the locals and learn about the Korean culture through hands-on experience. I long to return to Seoul at some point in my life, but I loved my experience abroad so much that I hope I get another opportunity to study abroad again before graduation.
I am extremely excited to serve as a Study Abroad Administrative Assistant and Advisor this year to help students achieve their goal of studying abroad during their college career and have the same life-changing experiences as I had.
