Bio

Hello all, Hola todxs,

My name is Kate Boyce, and I am a 4th year student majoring in International Relations (Peace & Security) and Spanish. I was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. I attended the UC Davis faculty-led program in Madrid, Spain, and have participated in service-immersion on the US-MX border in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico.

My global learning experiences begin in the Bay Area, a culturally rich place where you can hear Vietnamese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Spanish and more on any given day. So, studying abroad was the perfect opportunity to take my love of languages elsewhere and be immersed in a very different culture than my own.

I enjoy reading about culinary traditions and travel, namely from Anthony Bourdain and Stanley Tucci's narratives. While abroad, I picked up journaling as inspiration from these two authors and culinary icons, as it is a pipe-dream of mine to lead a similar life someday. I also enjoy the outdoors and regularly go on walks, hikes, or bike rides in the green spaces in the Davis area.

The Global Learning Hub's opportunities transformed my career direction to take on roles in ambassadorial leadership or foreign service. It is my hope that I can help you on your journey to discover more about yourself and the communities you represent as a global citizen. I hope to see you at the International Center soon!
