Come to the Global Learning Showcase to learn about your global opportunities at UC Davis! Hosted by the Global Learning Hub, the Global Learning Showcase is intended to inform students about opportunities to study, intern, and research in areas all over the world—including virtually and on campus. The Showcase consists of three days of info sessions and panels about a variety of global opportunities. A virtual fair will take on place Wednesday, October 20—your opportunity to explore study abroad programs offered across the University of California system for UC credit.

Peace Corps

Peace Corps sends volunteers to serve in over 60 countries around the globe. Volunteers must be American citizens and come from all backgrounds to represent the diversity of America abroad. They work at a grassroots level in six different program areas—education, health, environment, youth development, agriculture and community economic development—for a period of 27 months. Volunteers receive transportation to and from the country, a monthly living stipend, vacation and health benefits, and significant training. The Peace Corps provides loan deferment options and, after completing service, volunteers receive a readjustment allowance of over $9,000, lifetime eligibility for certain graduate school fellowships and one year of preferential hiring for federal positions. Peace Corps service is a life-changing experience that develops leadership skills and opens doors professionally and academically. The interdisciplinary minor in Global Studies will enable students across disciplinary areas to learn about global issues as well as to gain first-hand experience both locally and internationally through academic coursework and experiential learning.
