Gain hands-on international experience while exploring Japan’s rich agricultural traditions. This internship places students in rural towns and islands, with customized placements in areas such as agricultural production, plant breeding, community development, and international agricultural development. Intern for 32–40 hours per week (Monday–Friday), with additional time dedicated to an online course led by a UC Davis instructor.
The program begins with a week in Tokyo, including a Japanese language course, orientation, excursions, and networking events. Students stay in shared housing in Tokyo and at their internship site, with commutes ranging from 10 to 30 minutes. On-site housing includes meals and/or kitchen access. Some placements may allow partial remote work depending on the host company. This is a unique opportunity to gain professional skills while experiencing Japanese culture firsthand.
