Global Aggies Blog: Widening Circles—A Medical Student's Insight into Sustainable Global Health in Peru
Felicia Zhornitsky spent a month in Peru, volunteering with Sacred Valley Health to support community health workers in Quechua-speaking villages. Submit your application to reserve your spot for UC Davis Summer Abroad Internship and Virtual Summer Internship programs. Programs fill on a first-completed, first-reserved basis. To start your application, visit your program’s web page and click “Apply” or log into your Global Learning Profile, navigate to “Applications,” select your program type, find your program and select “start application.”

UC Davis Global Learning Conference - Showcase Opportunity
The Global Learning Hub will host the Global Learning Conference on Saturday, April 5, 2025. During the conference, individual students’ global learning experiences will be highlighted through posters to showcase the variety of global learning opportunities available at UC Davis. Connect with Rwanda: One Health for a More Sustainable World
Travel to Rwanda in June 2025 with a small cohort of students and a UC Davis faculty member to examine One Health issues in the context of sustainable development. All selected participants will receive a generous scholarship. Open to undergraduate students of all majors. Apply. Deadline: February 6.
Call for Applicants: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Internship
The Global Affairs SDG Internship provides an opportunity for UC Davis undergrad students to actively contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The internship is open to upper-division students in all majors. Deadline: December 20.
Thinking Food
Global Affairs is pleased to cosponsor Thinking Food, a year-long initiative that unearths the systemic roots of food inequity through humanities-based programs. Funded by the Mellon Foundation Sawyer Seminars, Thinking Food features scholarly conversations and cultural programming that culminate in quarterly colloquia for the 2024-25 academic year.
University of Tokyo Research Internship Program
The University of Tokyo Research Internship Program (UTRIP) is a 2025 summer internship program for students majoring in natural science and other relevant fields. UTRIP is a gateway to pursuing an advanced degree and experiencing academic life at UTokyo. Housing and scholarship provided. Apply. Deadline: January 7.
Taiwan International Internship Program (TIIP) at Academia Sinica
TIIP is a pre-doctoral research training program that prepares students to excel in their research journeys. Research projects available on-site in a variety of STEM fields. Stipend to help support living and airfare costs. Application opens December 15. Deadline: January 15.
APRU Mini Certificate in Health Research Ethics
The APRU Global Health Mini Certificate in Health Research Ethics is a free, virtual and interactive training designed for students with limited backgrounds in research ethics. Open to undergrad and grad students. The trainings will be conducted in English via Zoom in three sessions in February 2025. Register. Deadline: February 1.
ISTernship Summer Program
Develop research skills in an interdisciplinary research institute in Austria for 2-3 months through the ISTernship fellowship. Projects are available in biology, computer science, data science and scientific computing, mathematics, physics, neuroscience, chemistry and materials, and interdisciplinary areas. Monthly compensation and access to subsidized housing included. Applications open in late December.
Humboldt Internship Program in Berlin
This program offers research opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students. Students apply for a specific project in biology, chemistry, social sciences, cultural studies, physics, entrepreneurship and more. Requirements include a resume, cover letter and a letter of recommendation. Scholarships are available to cover the small program fee. Apply. Deadline: December 20.

UC Davis Study Abroad Awards - Summer Abroad Internships
The Study Abroad Award application is for students participating in a UC Davis Study Abroad program. You must have a saved spot in a program by the applicable submission deadline; students with incomplete program applications will not be considered. Financial Aid eligibility is not required. Awards range from $500 to $2,000. Deadline: January 7.
UC Davis Global Learning Awards
The UC Davis Global Learning Award application functions as an opportunity to submit a single essay for a selection of award offerings for 2025 UC Davis Study Abroad and 2025–26 UCEAP programs. Awards up to $1,000. Deadline: January 12.
St. Andrews Study Abroad Award - Fall Semester '25 or Academic Year 2025-26
The St. Andrews Study Abroad Award seeks to foster an ongoing student exchange relationship between UC Davis and the University of St. Andrews. The award aids UC Davis undergrad students, with demonstrated financial need, who wish to study abroad at St. Andrews through UCEAP. Awards up to $7,000. Deadline: January 14.
Global Aggies Award for LGBTQIA+ Rights
This award supports UC Davis student global learning and engagement regarding the issues that LGBTQIA+ communities and individuals face around the world. This includes research or creative work, internships/externships or other projects that advance the rights and/or well-being of LGBTQIA+ people globally. Awards up to $2,500. Deadline: February 26.
David L. Boren Scholarship
Learn about the David L. Boren Scholarship, which provides students up to $25,000 to study abroad in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East and incorporates intensive language study of less commonly taught languages (here is a list of preferred overseas locations). Blakemore Freeman Fellowships
This fellowship provides a stipend, tuition and travel expenses for intensive language study of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Khmer or Burmese in approved language programs in East or Southeast Asia. By the start of the grant, applicants should have received a bachelor’s degree and have the equivalent of three years of language study. Deadline: December 30.
U.S. Teaching Assistantship Program (USTA) in Austria
USTA fellows will receive a stipend and medical insurance to teach English beginning October 1, 2025, at secondary schools throughout Austria. Applicants must be U.S. citizens who hold bachelor’s degrees by the start of the program. Deadline: January 15.
Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF)
TAPIF fellows receive a monthly stipend to teach for seven months in France. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and permanent residents, aged 20-35, with a bachelor’s degree by the program start, and who speak French at B1 level or above. Deadline: February 28.

UC Davis Widening Circles and Global Grad Grants (Info Session)
December 12, 11 a.m.–12 p.m., virtual. Learn about the Widening Circles program, a fully-funded program that provides UC Davis students the opportunity to engage in an online curriculum focused on ethical global engagement and social change. At this info session, students will learn about the program and the funding mechanisms for participation. Register.
Aggies Leading the Way: Undergraduate Leadership Conference
January 25, 10 a.m.–5 p.m., UC Davis Conference Center. This annual full-day event is free for all undergraduate students of all majors. With workshops, keynote speakers and networking opportunities, the event brings together students interested in leadership who aim to make a difference in their academic and social communities.
