New Program Spotlight: One Health Uganda (UC Davis Summer Abroad)

UCEAP Global Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​UCEAP will open Global Scholarship applications in late January 2023 for 2023-24 programs. Awards of up to $2,000 will be announced in late March. You could be one of over 500 students selected for an award.

Competitions, Challenges, and Funding

Pitzer Family Foundation Global Challenge Internship Grants–Up to $10,000

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Pitzer Family Foundation Global Challenge Internship Grants are now open for 2023. Four generous grants—of up to $10,000 per grantee—will be given to eligible UC Davis students who will participate in select UC Davis global internship programs. Deadline: January 16.

Fund for Education Abroad Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This scholarship is available for U.S. undergraduates who are least likely to study abroad. Criteria for consideration includes financial need, demographic factors and academic plan and preparedness. Applications are open for those studying abroad in summer 2023, fall 2023, and academic year 2023-2024. Apply. Deadline: January 18.

Donald A. Strauss Scholarship

Scholarships of $15,000 are available to sophomore and junior level students of any citizenship status with a desire to “make a difference” in local, national or international communities. Recipients implement a sustainable public service project anywhere in the world. Deadline: February 1.

Middlebury Institute of International Studies UC Global Alumni Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​UC alumni who participated in a global program are eligible for a 25% scholarship toward this master’s degree. 10+ programs are available, including International Policy and Development, International Education Management and Teaching Foreign Language. Apply by February 1 for fall 2023 using application waiver code: MIISFEE23.

Fulbright UK Summer Institutes

The Fulbright UK Summer Institutes are 3-4-week programs for U.S. undergraduate students, who have no or very little travel experience outside North America. Participants can explore the culture, heritage and history of the U.K. while experiencing higher education at a U.K. university. Deadline: February 7.

Global Aggies Award for LGBTQIA+ Rights

Open to continuing undergraduate, graduate and professional students across all majors, this award provides students with funding to learn about and advance LGBTQIA+ wellbeing and rights globally, including through international, U.S.-based, or virtual activity. Grants will range from $500–$2,500. Apply. Deadline: February 8.

Udall Undergraduate Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This scholarship funds $7,000 and attendance at the Udall Scholars Leadership Conference for second or third-year students who are U.S. citizens, nationals or permanent residents planning careers to benefit the environment or Native American/American Indian tribes. Tribal candidates must be Native American/American Indian. Deadline: February 13.

Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​During this four-week summer program, Fellows will conduct a comparative study of social justice leadership in America, South Africa and Ireland exploring the legacies of social change leaders. This fully-funded summer fellowship program is for undergraduate students who identify as an ethnicity typically underrepresented on study abroad programs. Apply. Deadline: February 14.

Teach English in Spain!

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​October 1 – May 31. The North American Language and Culture Assistants Program offers grants and medical insurance to American college students and graduates, who are native speakers of English, with the opportunity to be an English teaching assistant in elementary and secondary schools.

Postdoctoral Fellow Opportunities Available in Equality and Justice

The University of Denver’s Interdisciplinary Research Institute for the Study of (in)Equality has open postdoctoral fellow opportunities in the areas of racial justice and global change, educational justice in metropolitan school districts and institutional justice and the criminal justice system. Deadline: January 13.

Global Internships in Haifa, Israel

June 19 – August 11. Broaden your view of Israel and the Middle East with a global internship in Israel focused on social change. On this UC Berkeley program, undergraduate students earn academic units while gaining first-hand knowledge, connections and work experience through an academic internship. Scholarships of $5,000 are available to all admitted students. Apply. Deadline: January 16.

Global First-Year Aggie Connections

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​First-Year Aggie Connections meet regularly for one academic quarter and are led by staff or faculty facilitators who are passionate about the themed topics. Join one of the connections that relate to Aggies for Action, which all focus on social, cultural and global change. Deadline: January 20.

APRU Global Health Mini-Certificate Training in Health Research Ethics

The APRU Global Health Mini-Certificate Training is a three-session class that aims to give students opportunities to strengthen their capacities in ethics to conduct health research, as well as to provide guidance for faculty on how to conduct this training in virtual environments. Deadline: January 21.

Keeping the Dream Alive Virtual Conference—Submit a Proposal

The Dreamer Resource Center at Sacramento State is accepting session proposals for the “Keeping the Dream Alive Virtual Conference” which brings together educators, practitioners and students to discuss the lived experiences of undocumented and mixed-status family students, as well as key resources. Deadline: January 27.

Global Ambassador Mentorship Program Mentor Fellows

Become a mentor fellow and provide mentorship and friendship to new international students, develop programming, build leadership skills and contribute to the international community at UC Davis! Open to current undergraduates. Participants are eligible for a $500 payment. Join an info session on January 25. Apply. Deadline: February 5.

APRU Student Global Climate Change Simulation

The APRU Student Global Climate Change Simulation 2023 is a role-playing exercise in which students will form multi-country, multi-disciplinary teams to play the role of delegates to the UN Climate Change Negotiations. Students who attend all three sessions will be provided with a certificate. Deadline: February 21.

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship

June 5 – August 12. Are you looking for a paid internship this summer? The HACU internship program is open to all students. Apply for an internship with one of HACU’s partners. Financial support is available for housing and travel. Virtual and in-person opportunities are available in all fields. Deadline: February 28.

Eisenhower Global Scholars

Eisenhower Global Scholars is an opportunity to spend the full 2023-24 academic year of postgraduate study leading to a master's degree in public policy at the University of Oxford or international relations at the IE University in Madrid. All courses are in English. Deadline: March 20.

Undergraduate Research, Scholarship and Creative Activities Conference

January 19, 9 a.m., UC Davis Conference Center. The Global Tea Initiative for the Study of Tea Culture and Science at UC Davis announces its 8th annual colloquium: Tea and Value. What do we value and how do we value it? Register to attend this all-day, in-person event.

Innovation Institute for Food and Health (IIFH) Innovator Fellowship

January 19, 12:10 a.m., virtual. The IIFH Innovator Fellowship provides UC Davis Ph.D. students and postdocs up to $50,000 of funding for six months. Work with innovation partners in a hands-on experience in a food and health investment environment, gaining real-world business and entrepreneurial skills while evaluating food and health startups. Register for this info session. Deadline: February 3.

Gilman Scholarship Information Session

January 31, 12 p.m., virtual. The Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship provides up to $5,000 for Federal Pell Grant recipients to participate in study abroad and internship programs throughout the world. Learn about the aims of the Gilman Scholarship, eligibility requirements, the application process and how to become a competitive candidate. Q&A session will follow the presentation. Register.
