Global Aggies Blog: Beyond the Lab: A Ph.D. Journey Through Culture, Language and Ecology

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Ph.D. student Gillian Bergmann spent six months in Angers, France, conducting hands-on microbial ecology research while building global collaborations—and her confidence in French. From sequencing DNA in the lab to sharing baguettes with colleagues, the experience deepened her scientific skills and sense of belonging across cultures.

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The HACU National Internship Program fall session is for 15 weeks with placement at federal agencies in Washington, D.C., field offices nationwide or remotely. Internships are available to currently enrolled undergraduate, graduate and recently graduated students in any major. Deadline: July 15.

GoinGlobal Job and Internship Database

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​GoinGlobal provides job seekers with tools to fast-track their career exploration both at home and abroad. Imagining America’s Joy of Giving Something (JGS) Fellowship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The goals of the JGS Fellows Program are to elevate photography and digital media as pathways for undergraduate students to pursue their careers and make a difference in their communities. Fellows receive $2,000 tuition scholarships, mentorship and financial support for a community project. Deadline: July 15.

Fulbright U.S. Student Program

This program offers annual awards for U.S. citizens who will have bachelor’s degrees by the 2025-26 academic year to conduct research, study or teach English in over 140 countries worldwide. Learn more about eligibility, timeline and requirements. Campus Deadline: September 4.

Schwarzman Scholars

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Receive a full scholarship for a one-year graduate program (M.A. in Global Affairs) at Schwarzman College of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Scholars will study and live at Schwarzman College and partake in a core curriculum focusing on public policy, economics and business or international relations. Deadline: September 10.

Luce Scholars Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Luce Scholars Program provides leadership training, stipends, language training and individualized professional placement in Asia for 18 scholars each year. This transformational program is experiential rather than academic and is not intended for those seeking research funding. Apply. Deadline: September 15.

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Applications are now open for this fellowship which provides a stipend for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters) of advanced-level language study in East or Southeast Asia. By the start of the grant, applicants should have received a bachelor’s degree and have the equivalent of three years of language study. Deadline: December 30.

UNESCO Youth Eyes on the Silk Roads Photo Contest

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Photographers, aged 14 to 25, are invited to explore and capture the essential roles of women in preserving and transmitting the shared heritage of the Silk Roads as part of this year’s theme, “Women, Guardians of Silk Roads Heritage.” Deadline: July 20.

UC Davis Global Learning Photo Contest

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The annual UC Davis Global Learning Photo Contest (formerly called the 'UC Davis Study Abroad Photo Contest') aims to recognize and celebrate student photography taking place on the many global learning programs offered throughout the year. The deadline to submit photos is in early fall quarter, but we encourage students to submit their favorite photos on a rolling basis as programs conclude. Top prizes (for all winners and finalists): gift cards ranging from $25-$200. Full details.
