University Writing Program

Dr. Moore is a dedicated educator and scholar whose work focuses on literacy equity and social justice. She believes writing is more than a skill—it’s a tool for empowerment. Her courses invite students to engage with diverse perspectives and composing practices, connect ideas across disciplines, and use their voices to advocate for themselves and others. Dr. Moore weaves activism into her teaching philosophy, empowering students to use writing as a catalyst for advocacy and societal change. Mentorship is important to her, and she works alongside students to help them grow as confident writers, critical thinkers, and active participants in the world around them. Dr. Moore earned her PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from the University of Nevada, Reno; an MA in English from Sacramento State University; a BA in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz; and an AA in Liberal Arts from American River College. Outside of teaching, she enjoys hikes in Yosemite, baking, reading, traveling to new places, cuddling with her two cats, and watching football. Go 49ers.

A Message to Students and Parents

Teaching, writing, and advocacy are at the core of who I am. They guide my work and fuel my passion for helping students find their voices to challenge injustice and create meaningful change. Writing, to me, is not just a skill but a powerful form of activism. I believe learning is a shared journey and that students bring vital perspectives that make every experience more impactful.  Ireland offers students a truly unique experience. With its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cities, and rich literary and political histories, Ireland is a place where the power of words has long shaped movements for justice and equality.

Beyond the classroom, students will experience Ireland’s warmth and hospitality. Its reputation as a safe, welcoming country makes it an ideal setting for learning and personal growth. This immersive program offers students the chance to broaden horizons and grow as thoughtful writers, advocates, and global citizens. I’m thrilled to guide you on this transformative journey—where history, writing, and social justice come vividly to life in one of the world’s most inspiring countries!"
