Summer Internships in Japan - On Site

Agricultural and International Development

Accommodations

In Tokyo, participants will live in shared accommodations with students from UC Davis Summer Internship programs. Each student will share a double room (bedding included) as well as a communal bathroom and kitchen.

We suggest bringing items to help you sleep in a shared room or group housing. Earplugs and eye masks have been helpful to students to sleep well in a new environment.

For housing on location, students will be staying in shared housing with good access to their internship location.  As is culturally common, students should expect to commute between 10 to 30 minutes to their internship location. Meals and/or kitchen access will be provided on location.

Participants should be open to all types of accommodations, as housing placements are based on factors such as availability, program length, cost, number of participants and proximity to the internship site. Specific details about accommodations will be provided prior to departure.

UC Davis reserves the right to change the accommodation location. Should this be necessary, we will arrange alternative lodging. Please note that elevators, air conditioners and other modern conveniences may not be available in all locations.

Meals

A welcome dinner and farewell dinner are included in the program cost. Additional meals may be included depending on the internship location. All other meals are not included in the program cost and are the responsibility of the participant.

Excursions & Activities

Two organized excursions and monthly networking events are included. Possible excursions may include:

  • Visit of Kamakura
  • Tokyo city tour
  • Visit of Nikko
  • Visit of Hakone

Study Abroad Advisory of Student Risk

Participation in this UC Davis Study Abroad program requires travel to and extended living in a foreign location(s) abroad. UC Davis Study Abroad endeavors to reduce and mitigate risk wherever possible.  However, the environments and risks associated with living in these locations are substantially different than those found during a regular course of study at UC Davis. All participants must download and review the following information prior to departure. Any questions should be directed to the Program Coordinator.
