Study Abroad Photo Contest Finalists Announced—Voting Now Open!

The annual UC Davis Study Abroad Photo Contest aims to recognize and celebrate student photography taking place on the many study abroad programs offered throughout the year. Over 300 photos were submitted this year and finalists have been selected for two categories: Places and People. Voting is open until November 17. Cast your vote!

UCEAP Limited Capacity Programs Now Open

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) limited capacity programs for 2023-24 are now open. Submit your application early to secure your spot. Drop-in advising is available at the Global Learning Hub to help with all your application questions.

Competitions, Challenges, and Funding

International Student Challenge to Achieve Zero Hunger

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The world needs your ideas to achieve zero hunger! Applications are open for undergraduate and graduate students to collaborate on solutions to hunger and malnutrition through the International Student Challenge to Achieve Zero Hunger. Register your interest. Deadline: November 11.

2023 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS)

CLS is a fully funded summer overseas language and cultural immersion program. Eligible languages: Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish and Urdu. ApplyDeadline: November 15.

2023 Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Spark—Virtual Opportunity

CLS Spark is a free, virtual program for U.S. undergraduate citizens to learn Arabic, Chinese or Russian through online classes and activities facilitated by native speakers at a host institution abroad. Scholars will also receive an official language proficiency designation via ACTFL OPI testing. ApplyDeadline: November 15.

James C. Gaither Junior Fellows

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This fellowship provides $39,500/year, with benefits, to work for one post-graduate year as a junior researcher at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. and have significant research experience. Deadline: December 19.

Excellence in Teaching of Study Abroad Awards

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The award recognizes the commitment of instructors who design and teach Study Abroad programs and make international experiences accessible to all UC Davis students. Now accepting nominations from students and alumni who have participated in UC Davis programs, UC Davis faculty, onsite coordinators and staff and administrators involved in undergraduate advising. Deadline: January 9.

Harry S. Truman Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This fellowship funds $30,000 towards a public service graduate degree along with conference attendance and a Washington D.C. internship. Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled full-time in their junior year, with an interest in pursuing careers as public service leaders. Application walkthrough webinar: November 15. Deadline: January 9.

Donald A. Strauss Scholarship

Scholarships of $15,000 are available to sophomore and junior level students of any citizenship status with a desire to “make a difference” in local, national or international communities. Recipients implement a sustainable public service project anywhere in the world. Deadline: February 1.

Udall Undergraduate Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This scholarship funds $7,000 and attendance at the Udall Scholars Leadership Conference for second or third-year students who are U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents planning careers to benefit the environment or Native American/American Indian tribes. Tribal candidates must be Native American/American Indian. Webinar: November 29, 12:15 p.m. Deadline: February 13.

Global Leadership, Internships, and Research

Center for Leadership Learning (CLL) Certificate Programs

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​CLL offers two programs, with distinct focus areas, open to all undergraduates from all majors and class levels. Students will strengthen their leadership and professional skills, earn academic units, and build peer and mentor connections. Deadline: November 11.

Universitas 21 (U21) Sustainable Micro-Internships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The U21 Sustainable Micro-Internships Program is a free, virtual two-week project-based internship for undergraduate and graduate students. Work with students from across the globe, sharing knowledge and expertise while providing solutions to a challenge related to one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Deadline: November 17.

APRU Becoming a Global Learner Leadership Series

Apply now to participate in this free, five-session virtual series in January–March 2023, where you will learn about culture, identity and intercultural awareness alongside peers from across the Asia Pacific region. Make connections, engage meaningfully and develop global leadership skills. Deadline: November 21.

Humboldt Research Internship Program in Berlin—Virtual and In-Person

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​June–August. This program offers research opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students. Students apply for a specific project in biology, social sciences, physics, entrepreneurship and more. Requires resume, cover letter and letter of recommendation. Scholarships are available to cover the small program fee. Apply. Deadline: December 9.

DAAD Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) Scholars

The RISE program offers undergraduates in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, earth sciences and physics the opportunity to complete a funded summer research internship at top German universities and research institutions. Apply. Deadline: December 15.

Eisenhower Global Scholars

Applications are now open for the Eisenhower Global Scholars fellowship, an opportunity to spend the full 2023-24 academic year of postgraduate study leading to a master's degree in public policy at the University of Oxford or international relations at the IE University in Madrid. All courses are in English. Deadline: March 20.

Funded Research Internships in Science and Engineering

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​November 16, 3 p.m., Zoom. Come learn about the 2023 DAAD RISE program. This program offers undergraduates the opportunity to complete a funded summer research internship at top German universities and research institutions. Receive 750 euros/month for three months, health insurance and a stipend for international and in-country travel. Register.

El Mundo Es Tuyo: Global Learning for Latinx/e/@ Students
