In many cases, these students can walk in the graduation ceremonies in June but file for the September graduation date. Students should check with their college dean’s office for filing deadlines. UC Davis Summer Campus Fee*
The UC Davis Summer Campus Fee covers the following services and initiatives: Student Services, Memorial Union, Student Health and Counseling Services, Unitrans, Mondavi Center, Recreation, Student Facilities Fee, Facilities and Campus Enhancement Initiative and Campus Expansion Initiative. The Provost has directed that all registered students must pay all elements of the campus fee with the exception of UC Davis employees who are also registered students. This directive is consistent with the language included in the referenda for campus-based fees, including the summer campus fee, voted upon by the students. With a UC Davis Student ID card, Summer Abroad students have access to the student services listed above during the entire special summer session period (mid June – early September). UC Davis students may get a UC Davis Student ID card (Aggie Card) at the AggieCard Office, 253 Memorial Union.

- Using Financial Aid to Pay for Your Program
UC Davis Students
Review information about Financial Aid, Scholarships and Budgeting for Study Abroad in our Resources section.Typically, the financial aid that you receive on campus can be applied to study abroad, and your aid may be adjusted to account for added program costs, such as airfare and local housing costs. If you are planning to study abroad during the summer, your financial aid package may not be the same as the academic year. Even if you do not normally qualify for financial aid while on campus, you might qualify for aid for study abroad, depending on additional costs and your particular situation. Always consult with the Financial Aid Office before enrolling in a program.
General Points on Using Financial Aid for Your Program
Timelines for programs are such that your adjusted financial aid package may not be finalized until late in the process (when you are already liable for program fees), so it is important to stay on top of things.
- Inform yourself beforehand of all of the steps involved
- Submit materials, including the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application, on time and fully completed
- Remember that summer financial aid consists of federal and institutional loans, and minimal grants are available to eligible students
- Contact the Financial Aid Office with questions
- Follow up to ensure your aid is disbursedSpecific Points on Financial Aid for Summer Abroad Programs
- The UC Davis Financial Aid and Scholarships Office will release a Summer Financial Aid Estimator by January where you can input your program choice and see an estimate of the aid you may receive. This is an estimate and NOT a guarantee of aid.
- Financial aid will adjust your budget to the cost of your program, adjusting your eligibility for aid, which can come in the form of grants and/or loans. Keep in mind that an increase in eligibility does not automatically guarantee you aid for your program.
- Summer financial aid is determined based on when you register in 6 or more units for Summer Special Session.Direct Deposit for Financial Aid Disbursement
If you are traveling before your program's start date, any financial aid funds remaining after payment of fees on your account may be issues after you depart; therefore, it is important that you sign up for Direct Deposit of aid disbursements. Be sure to include your UC Davis email address so that you will receive notifications of your deposit. if you have questions regarding this service, contact myaccount@ucdavis.edu.
Non-UC Davis Students
Financial aid for your Summer Abroad program would come from your home campus. Students should consult with their home institution about financial aid eligibility and timelines. Upon request, the Global Learning Hub can issue an Enrollment Verification Letter confirming your enrollment in the program for you to provide to the financial aid office at your home campus.
Since many campuses do not distribute financial aid until after Summer Abroad fees are due (June 15), non-UC Davis students are expected to pay fees within five (5) business days of their financial aid being disbursed. It is your responsibility to apply for Summer Aid at your home campus. Please note that you are liable for all fees regardless of the amount of your final disbursement. All students are held liable for fees according to the cancellation policy.
Students at semester institutions are able to enroll in an additional 199 course which will enable them to be eligible for financial aid at their home campus. indicate in your enrollment if you would like to enroll in this additional course.
