Summer Internships in Thailand - On Site

Education Internships in Thailand

Accommodations

Students will stay in shared rooms within serviced apartments or ‘aparthotels’ featuring air conditioning, western-style bathroom, hot water, TV, Wi-Fi, and mini fridges. Location and proximity to internships will vary based on individual placements, but public transportation is cheap and readily available.

UC Davis reserves the right to change the accommodation location. Should this be necessary, we will arrange alternative lodging. Please note that elevators, air conditioners and other modern conveniences may not be available in all locations.

Meals

A group welcome dinner and farewell dinner are included in the program fee. Accommodations come with access to microwaves and mini fridges so you can prepare and store your own food. In addition, eating out in Thailand is very cheap—about $3/meal. Thailand’s culinary portfolio is diverse, rich and delightful.

Excursions & Activities

Short excursions and day trips will be included as part of the program and may include the following:

  • Visiting an elephant sanctuary
  • Day trip to the mountains and national parks surrounding Chiang Mai
  • Thai cooking class

Students will have ample free time to explore other sites on their own and may enjoy visits to Chiang Mai’s most holy temple, Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep; the Sunday Walking Street Market, Chiang Mai’s biggest attraction; bamboo rafting, hiking, and more.

Get to Know Your Destination

A sprawling modern city has grown up around ancient Chiang Mai (เชียงใหม่), ringed by a tangle of superhighways. Despite this, the historic centre of Chiang Mai still feels overwhelmingly residential, more like a sleepy country town than a bustling capital. If you drive in a straight line in any direction, you'll soon find yourself in the lush green countryside and pristine rainforests dotted with churning waterfalls, serene wát and peaceful country villages – as well as a host of markets and elephant sanctuaries.
