Linda Amrou is an international human rights and immigration attorney with over a decade of experience developing and executing complex, innovative global programs and development initiatives within academic institutions. She currently serves as Global Affairs’ Assistant Director of Inclusive Global Engagement and Interim Director of Organizational Culture and Inclusive Practices for the Division of Inclusive Excellence at UC Davis.
Dawn Takaoglu, Ph.D., is the Director of International and Academic English in Global Affairs. In this role, she oversees three programs: Summer Start, a pre-matriculate program for international students at UC Davis; Language and Culture Coaching, a program that partners undergraduate coaches to work with multilingual graduate students in their development of language skills necessary for teaching; and the Pal Program which partners undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds for the purpose of exploring topics of language and cultural differences.
Emily Montgomery leads the Language and Culture Coaching Program, where she supports multilingual teaching assistants in developing their oral communication skills for the classroom and beyond. She also trains undergraduate coaches in principles of language teaching and intercultural communication, guiding both undergraduate and graduate participants to strengthen their pedagogical awareness and intercultural competence for more inclusive and confident academic engagement.
Patricia Turner, Ph.D., is an Education Specialist with the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE). At CEE, Patricia enjoys collaborating with faculty, graduate students and staff on the design and implementation of engaging, student-centered instruction with the goal of providing educational experiences that result in deep learning for diverse groups of students.
Amy Forester, EdD, MFA, is an Educational Specialist for Graduate Student Instructional Development in Center for Educational Effectiveness. She is the program director for the Teaching Assistant Consultants program, providing teaching professional development and leadership opportunities for graduate students in the TAC and to the broader teaching assistant community at Davis.
Katie Ranney, MA serves as the Assistant Ombuds in the UC Davis Ombuds Office. Katie holds a Master’s Degree in Communication with a Graduate Certificate in Peace and Conflict Resolution from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Prior to joining UC Davis in 2024, she served as the Program Development Director and in other roles at The Mediation Center of the Pacific in Honolulu for 7 1/2 years. Previous to that, she was an independent facilitator assisting non-profit organizations and state agencies.
Jenny Vaccari, MEd serves as an Associate Ombuds in the UC Davis Ombuds Office. Prior to joining the UC Davis Ombuds Office in 2019, Jenny held several positions in higher education settings, including in non-clinical case management, residence life, disability services, and career services. Jenny is a Certified Organizational Ombuds Practitioner and a member of the International Ombuds Association.
Sara Ruebelt, Ph.D., LMFT, is a counselor with the Community Advising Network (CAN) at UC Davis. She works closely with international students and the MENASA community, supporting students from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. With over 20 years of experience in cross-cultural counseling, Sara is passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health, encouraging preventative care, and helping students make self-care a meaningful part of their lives. She especially enjoys empowering students to embrace their cultural identity as a strength in their personal growth and well-being.
Dale Brown, MSW, LCSW, is a counselor with the UC Davis Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP). Dale works closely with UC Davis campus, UC Davis Health, and UC Agriculture and Natural Resources employees, with a focus on veterinary and graduate medical interns, residents, and fellows. Dale offers safe and accessible support while considering the intersecting personal, social, cultural, and systemic factors that shape one’s perspectives and needs. As a clinical social worker, Dale is passionate about bridging barriers to access care for mental health and building a sustainable sense of wellness within academic, healthcare, and community settings.
Taylor Jacob Baldwin, M.A., LMFT, is a counselor with the UC Davis Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP). Taylor works closely with UC Davis campus and UC Agricultural and Natural Resources employees, with a particular interest in supporting people navigating stress, change, and challenges at work. Taylor draws from a neurodiversity-informed, culturally responsive perspective to support individual and organizational resilience within a complex university environment. As a first-generation college graduate, Taylor is passionate about mental health equity and making counseling approachable and accessible, particularly for those who may be new to the university environment, navigating unfamiliar systems, or new to counseling.
