A Message to Students and Parents
Italy captured my heart over 25 years ago. The art, landscape, food and people have had me returning countless times. Italy has greatly impacted my own paintings and drawings, which often reference works I studied during my visits—from Roman ruins to Renaissance frescoes and to the many varied landscapes.
I taught in a study abroad course in Umbria for five years and during that time came to discover the town of Todi. I have always thought it would be an ideal place to base students; not only is it a beautiful city in its own right, and a perfect size to explore and interact with the locals, but its proximity to Florence and Siena makes it accessible to the epicenter of Medieval and Renaissance art.
I am thrilled to return to study abroad and teach students to draw, to see, and to connect with great works of art amidst the rich Italian culture and landscape."
