Program Overview

In this program, students explore the social value of nature, sustainable natural resource management and the importance of conserving natural and cultural heritage. During this three-week, hands-on program on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Lošinj, Croatia, students learn through immersive, on-location experiences while exploring the island's natural beauty, history and the Adriatic Sea. Highlights include visits to a sea turtle sanctuary, marine mammal monitoring programs, the Apoxyomenos Museum, the Garden of Fine Scents, the historic city center, piers and beaches, as well as a two-day excursion to nearby Susak Island. Throughout the program, students connect classroom concepts to their field experiences and develop an independent project based on a topic of their choice.
