Class Format

Your classroom experience is a combination of traditional classroom sessions and group project work complemented with guest lectures and field trips around Bangkok. Past participants describe this program as active. On a daily basis, you can expect to be moving about the city on any one mode of transportation: walking, bus, or metro. The class generally meets Monday-Friday with weekends free. The program instructor will provide more details with the syllabus.

Courses

You will enroll in the course set below. Expand the sections to view course descriptions. Auditing is not an option. UC Davis programs are academic programs so participants should expect a substantial amount of course work.

  • Community and Regional Development (CRD) 153A. International Community Development: Asia (4 units)       
  • Examination and analysis of community development efforts in a range of Asian countries and the impact of global forces in different settings. Includes classroom lectures, workshops, field trips, and collaborative action research projects. May be taught abroad. GE Credit: SS, OL, WC, WE.
  • Landscape Architecture (LDA) 198. Directed Group Study (2 units)
  • This course includes participation on excursions and tours and attendance to guest lectures. Students are often asked to write reflective pieces. Assignment topics vary by program.
